ADA - East Central University setter Holly Hicks was named to the 15-member All-Lone Star Conference Volleyball First Team, it was announced Wednesday night at a banquet in conjunction with the LSC Postseason Tournament in Canyon, Texas.

Hicks, a senior out of Round Rock, Texas, was named to the LSC First Team for the second year in a row. She was also named LSC Newcomer of the Year in 2008.

She led the Lady Tigers in assists in 2009 with 700 (5.26 per set) and was second on the squad in total kills with 363 (2.73 per set).

Hicks posted eight triple-doubles (kills-assists-digs) on the season and finished with 14 for her two-year career.

Two other Lady Tiger seniors - middle blocker Emily Holombek and outside hitter Jacqueline Sparks - were honorable mention selections for 2009.

Holombek, out of Ovilla, Texas, led ECU with a .303 hitting percentage for the season and was third on the team in kills with 333 (2.50 per set). Sparks, from Baytown, Texas, topped the Lady Tigers with 378 kills (2.84 per set) and was second in total digs with 378 (2.84 per set).

Hicks, Holombek and Sparks, along with sophomores Megan Kimak, Shayla May and Sarah Henry, were named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic achievements.

Kimak is out of Enid; May is from Moses Lake, Wash.; and Henry hails from Wichita Falls, Texas.

To make the all-academic team or commissioner's honor roll, student-athletes must maintain at least a cumulative 3.30 grade point average. All six of the ECU players were well above that minimum.
