HEAD COACH
Heather Beam enters her 12th season as head coach of the East Central University women’s soccer program.
Beam’s first 11 seasons at ECU saw her put together a solid program, despite some recent injury-plagued years.
She has guided the Lady Tigers to the Lone Star Conference Tournament twice, including a runner-up finish in 2000. In 2004, ECU suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Midwestern State in the first round of the LSC Tournament.
Her teams have been ranked regionally at various times over the years.
Beam has coached numerous players to All-Lone Star Conference teams, including first team, second team and honorable mention awards.
Her players have experienced success in the classroom as well. Numerous players have been named to the All-LSC Academic Team and many more to the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
The 2004, ‘05, ‘06 and ‘07 teams have garnered coveted academic awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with a combined grade-point average of 3.0 or better. Also, her 2005 and 2006 teams were recognized with a Silver Award for Team Ethics from the NSCAA.
Beam brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach to ECU. She grew up in Allen, Texas where she was a member of the Sting Soccer Club, one of the premier women’s soccer clubs in the United States. During her time with the Sting, she won several state and regional championships as well as numerous club tournaments all over North America.
She was a member of the Allen High School girls soccer team and led them to the Texas state semifinals her senior year. For her efforts, Beam was awarded the district’s most valuable player.
During her time at ECU, Beam has been involved with many levels of soccer here in Oklahoma. She has worked with the Olympic Development Program (ODP), which is designed to recognize and train the top players from every state), conduct numerous soccer camps, and has worked with the Ada Boys and Girls Club to develop their soccer program.
Beam is licensed by the United State Soccer Federation. She received both her bachelor’s degree in health, physical education, recreation/exercise science and masters in sports administration from ECU. She and her husband Kevin have two sons, Garrett (11) and Gage (5).
