ADA - The East Central University women's volleyball team received a 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, it was announced recently.
Coach Dave Thorn's Lady Tigers produced a team cumulative 3.4 grade point average on their way to the award. It was the second year in a row that the team had a 3.2 or better. The ECU volleyball program is heading into its third year of existence this fall.
"Its shows how hard our volleyball players work in the classroom," said Thorn. "Hopefully we can continue to have future success from our student-athletes in the classroom."
Members of the 2009 team included: Holly Hicks, Emily Holombek, Jacqueline Sparks, Chelsea Whitmire, Shayla May, Megan Kimak, Rachel Watson, Katy Fields, Sarah Henry and Megan Waiki.
