Pool, Lance tied for seventh; ECU in sixth

            THACKERVILLE - East Central surged from seventh place to sixth while two Tiger individuals - Zac Pool and Bryeson Lance - are tied for seventh place after two rounds Monday of the 2010 Lone Star Conference Golf Championships at the par-72 WinStar Course.

            Lance, a sophomore from Sulphur, fired a 4-under-par 68 in Monday's second round and registered five birdies on the back nine on holes 10, 13, 14, 17 and 18. His only bogey of the round came on No. 3. He is minus-1 (143) for the tournament after posting a 3-over 75 in Sunday's opening round.

            Pool, a senior out of Poteau, fired a 2-under 70 on Monday after shooting a 1-over 73 on Sunday. Pool birdied four holes, three of which came on the front nine. He birdied holes 4, 6, 7 and 14 and is also minus-1 (143) after two rounds.

            ECU freshman Travis Keeley had a 1-over 73 on the day after registering birdies on 3 and 13 and is 9-over (153) for the event after recording an 80 in Sunday's first round.

            Teammates Michael Vassella, a senior, and Jeff Weisheit, a sophomore, are tied for 38th place and 10-over after two rounds (154). Vassella shot a 6-over 78 on Monday after posting a 76 on Sunday. Weisheit shot a 4-over 76 on Monday after registering a 78 on Sunday.

            Abilene Christian's Cyril Bouniol and Midwestern State's Travis Klutts are tied for the lead and are at minus-8 for the tournament. Bouniol fired an 8-under 64 on Monday after posting an even-par 72 on Sunday. Klutts fired back-to-back 4-under-par 68s. Bouniol had eight birdies in Monday's second round while Klutts had six birdies and overcame a pair of bogeys.

            Midwestern State, which had a minus-14 team effort for the day, leads the team standings with a 570, which is three shots better than second-place Abilene Christian (573). Cameron is third at 577, followed by Central Oklahoma (580) and Northeastern State (585).

            ECU is sixth at 589 as the Tigers as a team were minus-1 for the day. Southwestern Oklahoma State is seventh at 592, followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (598), West Texas A&M (607) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (608).

            The third and final round is set for Tuesday as the first men's tee time is set for 8 a.m.
