ADA - Tarleton State pounded out 30 hits on the day, 11 in the first game and 19 in the second, as the Texans swept both ends of a Lone Star Conference doubleheader with host East Central, 10-2 and 13-3, Saturday at Tiger Field.

The wins enabled Tarleton to complete a series sweep of ECU after the Texans took a pair of Friday games.

The losses dropped the Tigers to 3-13 overall and 3-11 in the LSC, while Tarleton improved to 11-13 and 8-12.

Tarleton 10, ECU 2 (Game 1)

ECU right-hander J.P. O'Leary (1-2) went the seven inning distance on the mound and pitched well enough to win as he allowed only three earned runs off 10 hits while walking none and striking out six.

But the Texans took advantage of three Tiger errors in the game by scoring seven unearned runs.

Three of the four first-inning runs by Tarleton were unearned and all four of the Texan runs in the seventh were unearned.

ECU, which struggled at the plate off winning pitcher Jake Sowell, managed just eight hits as Bryant Mistler and reserve left fielder J.T. Gasso were the only multiple hitters.

Sowell (2-1) allowed just one earned run, walked only one and struck out four in going the seven-inning distance.

Mistler was 2-for-3 with an RBI down the left field line in the second inning, scoring Trevor Gavin, who had an RBI double earlier in the inning. Gavin's double to left-center scored Dackry Howard who reached first base on an error.

Gasso was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, one off a bunt.

Nathan Hille went 3-for-4 with a double and knocked in a pair of runs for the Texans while Andrew Wolfe was 2-for-5 with five runs batted in, including a three-run double in the first inning and a two-run single in the seventh.

Tarleton 13, ECU 3 (Game 2)

The Texans scored five times in the first inning to take control early.

Tarleton had five extra-base hits in the game, including a home run by Chris Casazza, who was one of six multiple-hitters for his squad.

Tiger starter Andy Pendleton (2-2) lasted 4.2 innings and suffered the loss as Tanner Ross and Kyle McCormick also saw mound duty in relief.

Tarleton's Brandon Van Riper (1-2) worked the first five innings for the victory.

Four Tigers had two hits apiece as Dackry Howard drove in two of the three runs with a two-run double in the third, scoring Mat Wolf and his brother Dylon Howard, who each reached on a single.

Gasso brought home the other ECU run with a one-out double in the eighth inning, scoring Grant Rainwater, who led off with a single.

Wolf, Gasso and Dylon Howard were the Tigers' other multi-hitters with two each.

Charlie Ulbricht went 4-for-5 and knocked in three runs for the Texans while Tim Rainey and Casazza were each 3-for-5 and scored three times. Rainey drove in two runs and Casazza picked up one RBI off his solo-blast.

ECU goes outside conference play on Tuesday by visiting the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith for a 4 p.m. nine-inning single game.

The Tigers then return to LSC play on Friday and Saturday against Cameron University. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. in Lawton, while Saturday's twinbill will be played in Ada and begin at 1 p.m.
